Final Year Project
Many people have commented/envied my life in USA.
About how I am having fun, but not working hard enough in the lab.
About how some of my other classmates are so stressed out while I was having fun and traveling.
You see, I am actually very stressed too.
I am 5000 miles away from home, my loved one and my family.
I came with 0 frens (actually 1 if you consider Prof Urs "my fren").
And I had to adapt to everything, everyone, every place from scratch.
So, lets talk about my FYP today.
I am working on tolcapone, an anti-parkisonian drug, and its molecular mechanisms on hepatotoxicity. My study model is a novel, spontaneously immortalized human hepatocyte cell line that only my lab has. And people are practically begging us for this cell line. And results wise, I guess I am doing good, not great, but good enough. :)
I came with the intention of getting an A. Cos I know Prof Urs, and I understand his research. He is a great teacher, very attentive and gives his best for his students. The only disappointment was that I had no mentor and had to pick everything up from scratch. I have to troubleshoot my own protocol, plan my own experiments and do all the shit on my own.
But I'm not complaining. It was a great learning experience. :)
So right now, I am just hoping for the best. My A / A-!!
So, I am very happy working in this lab, I met some nice people in this lab, and at my place, some NUS exchange students and fren's frens...
My professor offered me PhD opportunity like 100times, but I had to reject him for the sake of "love".
I will be done in two weeks. I gotta write my discussion by this weekend. So I will not be going anywhere this weekend.
So so so, please wish me luck. :)
Love you guys,
Audrey
