I am already here for 3 days and only one word can describe my experience thus far...

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!

The first point of entry was at Chicago O'hare Airport and it was -16C..

Freaking cold..!!!

I had only one turtleneck and my esprit jacket on and I was freezing when waiting to board my plane. I actually missed my connecting plane, but that story will come later :)

So, its finally snowing today!! I mean, there's snow by the roadside everyday. Could have snowed like 3am in the night. But it actually snowed really heavily mid-day today!! So, I went to take a walk in the snow and it was cooool!!

Actually, when its snowing the whole place is warm. I mean, comparatively warmer than when its windy. So its really comfortable to walk in the snow. The feather-light snow flakes actually falls and melts on you. And its really soft...UNTIl it accumulates and become very black and dirty by the roadside. Haha...

So, anyways, I'm freezing my butt off in CT all this time. Its about -6C to -10C these days. :(

For those of you interested in my life.

Here's a summary.

1) I'm still kinda jet-lag, getting tired at about 3pm (4am SG time) in the noon, and waking up at about 6am (7pm SG time) in the morning.

2) I walk a good 15 mins from home to campus. And 5 mins involve cutting thru a forest covered in snow. Don't be envious. Its not so fun really. Cos snow is really slippery and you can just slip and break ya hip. And it gets really dark at night, and can get really scary!!!

3) I have already spent 1000USD thus far. 975 goes to rent for Jan + Feb, 17 at Big Y Supermarket for groceries, and 3 on Sub of the day (Subway) as lunch today. So if you are paying attention, you may ask, "You only spend 3 dollars on meals thus far?"

Actually, to make the short story long, I skipped dinner the first and second day cos I was just too tired. Imake my own breakfast, foods like microwave chicken pie and egg sandwiches. And I had 7USD Indian buffet lunch, which was suprising good, as a welcome treat from my boss. And today, I plan to cook Myojo Chicken Abalone noodles with eggs for dinner. :)

4) I am staying in the basement of a pretty house. So I stay with a Nepal girl in the basement(will update photos later). The landlord's daughter stays here and she is a American Chinese. Her boyfriend is white and from Minnesota. Another Iranian and American guy also stays here. There's this other girl who stays here but apparently never comes home, works at Hooters and sounds like a weird girl. But I have never met her yet. Everyone in this house is nice, especially Mike the boyfriend. He is really sociable and helpful. :) So I'm really blessed and happy to have found this place. Indeed a blessing in disguise!!!!

There's also two dogs at home. And there are really cute. Madison (as in Madison Ave in NYC) is a poodle and terrier mixed and she is really obedient. However, Mady loves to kiss me and her breath smells like crap. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!!! But I actually come home and start talking to dogs which I think its really crazy!! Haha...

5) Work is boring. I haven started lab work yet. I left like 3pm yesterday and 330pm today. That sucks..!! Haha...

Right, I'm getting restless and hungry now...maybe I'll go make my dinner...

PS: Its really troublesome to take pictures in the cold. I have to remove gloves and everything. And its really paiseh to take pictures when the entire UConn student body is rushing around me in the cold. Maybe I will take a walk around campus this saturday and take pictures. :)
