Entry about food!!!
I gave up the idea of going to NYC bcos I saw that its gonna rain today. So I planned to go to the lab instead!!! And guess wat, it was FREAKING good weather today.
SUCKS!!!!
Anyway, so I went to the lab to do some experiments and organised some of my results. And Jean came to the lab to accompany me before we went to some Thai restuarant on campus to have dinner. We had rice with calamari and Phing Kring beef, which is a stir fry of string beans, carrots and peppers with beef - apparently very cheap stuff!! With our UConn IDs, we got free Thai iced tea, which was yummy!!! The dinner cost us 18.44USD (21USD with tips)!!!! That is a mad price to pay for Thai food!! I could eat a feast at Bangkok with that money!!!
Anyway, it was a good escape from the monotonous food that I have everyday....
I should post some pictures from my Boston trip but I decided to post pictures of my foods first.
Well, it includes foods from Boston too...
:)
So, an average meal outside should cost you about 10USD.
The other day I had Panda Express for lunch. It is actually chap-chai-peng (mixed veggies rice) and it cost me freaking 7USD!!! For two chicken dishes on fried rice and a stupid fortune cookie!! That day, I wished I owned a chinese restuarant in USA, cheating people money with lousy chinese food..
Well anyway, a good meal would cost you about 20USD.
But the good thing is that they serve you (like an American) here, meaning they give you HUGE portions. So it is always good to share. :)
BUT, if you cook at home, it will cost you like 2-3USD for good food...
Provided, you can cook as well as me...
HAHHAHAHH...
I kinda like to make pasta (Beef/plain/seafood marinara) for dinners. Marinara was the best and most unexpectedly good!! But ever since I ran out of cod fillet and the shrimps haven't gone on sale, I made it only once. Very sad...
Oh, and most of the time, I made rice for dinner. Main dish includes onion eggs, chicken stew, stir-fry veggies, oriental pork chops, and some random dishes that I create from whatever food I have when my grocery supplies run low.
Some foods that I made...
